After a turbulent January, we welcomed a rather quiet February … quiet for rescue, that is.

Momma Donna’s Birthday

Donna Durham, our co-founder and owner, celebrated her birthday on Feb. 20 with an outpouring of birthday wishes from friends, family and supporters. She responded with happy tears the next day. If it wasn’t for her “dogged” determination to rescue and care for these babies, we would not exist.

Name Change

We officially added “Adoptions & Sanctuary” to our name to reflect the changes at the rescue. We also created a new logo and launched our updated website and branding materials – all volunteered by Soccer Dog Design. We also debuted our T-shirts for the first time. We just received another batch; if you haven’t gotten yours yet, you can do so online or at this weekend’s Super Adoption Event. All proceeds go to the dogs.

Tessa and Westin’s Big Adventure

Following the Flashpoint debacle, we were not in a position to take in any new rescues. There was a foster family very much in need of rehoming two JRTs, Tessa and Westin. We all put a call out for adoptive parents, and a wonderful couple (Quentin and Susan Mims) from Texas stepped up to take them. They were unable to make the long haul to Atlanta to get them, so we put together a volunteer transport. Facebook hooked us up with Anna Papadimitriou, a perfect go-between to link Atlanta and Texas in Mississippi, and this adorable couple of pups were able to stay together. They are now living the life with their new family.

“(Westin and Tessa) are doing great and have been such a joy in our life. While Tessa enjoys chasing the squirrels in the yard, Westin would much rather be chasing his ball. That boy can play ball 24/7. They share a twin bed in their own room. They are absolutely spoiled, but they deserve it. Tessa would much rather be in the bed when she’s not outside and Westin would rather be right with Moma, no matter where that may be. We love our babies and thank God for the day they came into our lives. Thank you Georgia Jack Russell for your help getting them to us.”
