Saving the Best for Last
Talk about saving the best for last! We have an adoption to announce that will make you want to celebrate tonight, even if you weren’t planning to …
Who arrived at rescue frightened almost three years ago from an out-of-state rescue, where she and so many others (known as Exodus Six, then Seven after Dixie arrived) were left for dead? Who took six months to “catch” and coax out of her literal cycle of circling her kennel in anxiety? Who lived in two amazing foster homes with so much love and guidance, yet couldn’t stay because she felt threatened or challenged by other dogs in the home?
And who came back to rescue a few months ago with few inquiries and applications, despite all of our pleas?
But, wait! Who was just waiting for the perfect person and the perfect home? Yep, you guessed it … Hannah Banana!
After almost three years of waiting, growing, learning to trust, and leaving all of us wondering what might happen next for her, Hannah would like to announce that she has gone home … and what a good home she has!
How it Happened
When Hannah began having issues with other dogs in her second foster home last summer, Hannah’s first foster mom and now Kennedy’s mom, Bonnie, began talking about her situation with her co-worker, Stephanie. Stephanie checked out Hannah’s story and started following the rescue. She then became a monthly sponsor for Hannah and began expressing an interest in fostering her.
At the end of October, Stephanie came out to the ranch to meet Hannah. They walked, they talked, they hit it off. Stephanie returned in early December to take her home for foster … and the third time was, indeed, the charm. They were a perfect fit. Hannah is now an only dog with all of mom’s attention, and it works beautifully for both of them.
Tears of Joy
This marks the end of an era of sorts. Earlier this year, Dixie and Rocky (now Buster) found their fabulous homes after Pebbles, Bailey, Sadie and Sam all found theirs. Most of these beautiful dogs were older; some had physical issues, some psychological, after the trauma they had been through. We spent many days, weeks, months, and even years wondering when they would all finally find the homes they so deserved. Hannah was the only one left with us.
Today, we can “seal the deal” on those long-time concerns. Each and every one of these amazing dogs has found an equally-amazing family.
Thank you, Stephanie. Thank you, Bonnie and Pam. Thank you, Belinda. And thank you to everyone who supported us while we waited for this miracle to happen. It’s a true testament to stay patient; to go through the ups and downs and remember that the dogs truly do pick us, we don’t pick them. They know what they’re doing, even if it takes a little while. 😉
Happy New Year, everyone!
