Fall Vol Day
Now that our big reunion is over with, we are turning our attention to our next big event: Fall Vol Day at the rescue ranch on Saturday, Nov. 15.
This is the big day when we need all hands on deck to help wrap the kennels and get everything ready for winter. It can be a tough job, but the more people we have, the faster it will go … and the warmer the dogs will be. We will, of course, make sure we have fun doing it and celebrate with a cookout.
The Jacks Need You
Although Team Russell is bigger than it’s ever been, so is the rescue … and the amount of dogs in our care … and the things that need done around rescue. As such, we are pushing to bring in as many new volunteers as we can over the next few months. We always need volunteers, but why is it so important now?
- Many of our existing vols have holiday events/vacations planned during this time of year. They have worked tirelessly for years for the rescue and deserve every break they get.
- Some members have increased job hours/travel and can’t make it out as often as we would like. Sorry, no payrolls here. We have to work for a living.
- And some of us have very defined activities that keep us from doing the things that need to be done most (scooping, watering, kennel and dog care) during the time we’re there.
We have a very trusty kennel keeper during the weekdays when hardly anyone can make it out, but our weekends are starting to thin out again.
Want to make a difference?
If you have been wanting to volunteer, this is the time to do it! The weather is great, the dogs are happy, and the help is very much needed. Please, complete our volunteer application if you would like to join us on Nov. 15 (or any other weekend). We will do our best to make sure someone is available on-site to introduce you to the dogs and team members and start showing you how you can truly make the difference in the life of a small rescue and the dogs. It may not be glamorous, but we all have dogs: Food, water and health/comfort always comes first … and playtime is always a perk. 😉
