What an absolutely fabulous day yesterday was at the Rescue Ranch. Team Russell showed up bright and early to prepare for a day full of special guests and festivities.
The Dogwood Jack Russell Terrier Club hosted a fun day to practice and prepare for the big Steeplechase run next month. In addition to entertaining us with their experienced guys and gals strutting their stuff, they allowed us to join the events and give our current/adopted rescues a go at it. Suffice it to say, they now have some new members … and we have some skills to add to some of the rescues’ resumes! Woo-hoo!
As if that wasn’t enough fun for one day, Jane Turner, founder of Dogly, flew down to visit us for the day with her lovely sister, Robin. This is the third grant we’ve won (two for loves, one for creativity), and Dogly wanted to make it special with a visit and a personal presentation of the check.
And if THAT wasn’t enough, she was joined by State Rep. Joe Wilkinson, who is working on legislation that will name the adoptable dog as the official state of Georgia! They both toured the rescue, watched the races, and handed over a much-needed grant to Mama Donna and Kennedy. Kennedy benefited from our first grant; this time, it will be Buster, who has happily returned to rescue after weeks in the hospital! He was running around and greeting everyone yesterday. Yay!
We want to thank all of our lovely guests. We were honored to welcome you. It’s wonderful to work with folks who both: 1) support the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of homeless animals and 2) work to educate potential JRT owners about the breed and contribute to their longevity, health and well-being through research, responsible breeding and, of course, activities that keep these guys and gals healthy, happy and OUT of rescue in the first place.
